A Zero Waste Refashion!

I've had this 100% rayon dress in my stash for a long time!  I really liked the color and feel of the fabric.  I also liked the pleats and button detail on the bodice.  It was a lot of dress, though, and I had other plans for it.  Originally, it was just going to be cut off into a tunic.

Simple enough...cut and hem along the bottom.

Cut and hem the sleeves.

Remove the waist ties, take in the sides just a touch and it becomes a very comfortable tunic.

But there's more!

I just couldn't let the rest of the fabric go to waste.  So on to another simple refashion.

  

I turned down the top edge and made a casing for an elastic waist.  I was going to stop with that, but those remaining pieces of sleeves and ties kept calling to me!

I stitched the two sleeve pieces together, added some eyelets, and used the original ties for lacing.

I cinched it up and it became a nice belted accent for the simple elastic waist skirt.

Zero waste...now that's really refashioning!
